NEWS

I am delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Dr Lyanne Beckerson as our new Curate.

Mother Lyanne comes to us already ordained deacon, having begun her curacy in the Willesden Episcopal Area, and will serve the remaining two years of her curacy with us. She will be licensed at Evening Prayer (5pm) on Monday 17 March by the Archdeacon of Hampstead. All are welcome to this small service, and there will be ample opportunity to meet and welcome her to the parish on Sunday 23 March and over the coming weeks.

Mother Lyanne trained for the priesthood at St Stephen’s House, Oxford and prior to this lived in South East Essex where she was a Deputy Church Warden, Server and Assistant Sacristan in the town church of Leigh on Sea. She was a university lecturer in the History of Design and the History of Dress and Textiles for several years at the University of Brighton, Kingston University and at Winchester School of Art, before discerning a call to the sacred ministry in the Church of England. She is particularly interested in liturgy, church buildings and pastoral care.

Initially, Mother Lyanne will be living in a house provided by the Diocese in Finsbury Park, and will move to St Paul’s Lodge when it becomes vacant on the completion of Fr Pete’s curacy.

Please join me in praying for Mother Lyanne as she prepares to join us, and for the stirring up of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in all of us as we seek to grow faith in Winchmore Hill.
